The Anguish of Prayer

-"And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground." (Luke 22:44).

When was the last time your heart grieved so much for those you were interceding in prayer that it affected your mind,  your physical body and your heart?

Hebrews 5:7-8 reads - "During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered."

Praying is simple and it is not difficult to understand.  Unfortunately, most people see praying as a difficult thing to do.  There are no shortcuts to prayer.  You cannot just go to a seminar, class, read a book, or anything like that to transform you into intercessors.  This comes only by you committing to pray and then doing so.  God wants to take us into a deeper level in your prayers. It involves experiencing brokenness with the Father over those who continually disobey and revolt against Him.

How many of us will experience the kind of fervent prayer like those Jesus prayed?

Don't allow yourself to become satisfied with superficial self-centered praying.  Stay with God in prayer and He will lead you to pray at the level He wants.

"In my anguish I cried to the LORD, and he answered by setting me free." -Psalm 118:5
